Another major Emmerdale exit as star set to leave after 7 years
Another major Emmerdale favourite is set to exit the ITV soap.
Bradley Johnson, who plays Vinny Dingle on the long-running serial drama, is the latest star reportedly set to leave the eponymous village, following word of Dawn Taylor star Olivia Bromley and Jimmy King legend Nick Miles’ departures.
Vinny, as viewers will recall, arrived in Emmerdale seven years ago when mum Mandy Dingle (Lisa Riley) staged her long-awaited return to the Dales after 18 years.
The dynamic between the mother and son duo was nothing short of magical and made for many a comedy caper over the years and was the basis of a stellar Emmerdale lockdown two-hander episode.
In the years that have followed, Vinny has been central to various plotlines, including a hard-hitting abuse story, with biological father Paul (Reece Dinsdale) proving to be a vile bully who took his aggression out on his son.
Vinny’s romance with Liv Flaherty (Isobel Steele) also proved a hit with viewers, as did his friendships with characters including Aaron (Danny Miller) and Kammy Hadiq (Shebz Miah).
Last year, Vinny married Gabby Thomas (Rosie Bentham) but was confused about his sexuality after he attempted to kiss Kammy.
He bravely told Gabby about his feelings and, after they separated, he embarked on a romance with Lewis Barton (Bradley Riches), which has been a key storyline as of late.
But it seems Vinny’s time in the village is set to come to an end, with the character reportedly set to be written out, according to The Sun.
‘Bradley is a very popular member of the cast and especially close with his on-screen Dingle family,’ a source told the publication, which said that co-star Lisa Riley is ‘devastated’.
Metro has reached out to Emmerdale for comment.
It was revealed last week that Jimmy King star Nick Miles will be leaving the show after 22 years – with the longtime character set to be killed off.
