Dawn’s terror in Emmerdale as Graham and Joe plot to stop her ‘for good’
The following article contains spoilers from the episode of Emmerdale dated May 19. It hasn’t aired on ITV1 yet, but can be viewed on ITVX and YouTube.
It turns out love isn’t blinding Joe Tate’s (Ned Porteous) view in Emmerdale, because he knows exactly what Dawn Taylor (Olivia Bromley) is up to.
Beloved character Dawn has been busy trying to destroy her partner after realising that he’s spent most of this year lying to her, and hurting other residents of the village.
She has enlisted help from Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) and Moira Dingle (Natalie J Robb), and wants to steal everything Joe owns and leave him with absolutely nothing.
Things kicked off when Joe found Dawn arguing with Belle Dingle (Eden Taylor-Draper). When Belle was out of the room, Dawn made a comment to Joe about how she’d quite like to buy Take a Vow so she doesn’t have to deal with a Dingle. Joe jumped at the chance of giving Dawn a serious amount of cash to buy Belle out, and she happily accepted the offer.
At Wishing Well, Dawn updated Belle and Moira and they all laughed, surprised that the plan was going so well already.
A few days later, Joe tried to prove to Dawn that he’d love all of her children equally once their new baby is born by setting up trust funds for Clemmie, Lucas, Evan and the mini Tate.
This move surprised Dawn a great deal, but she also realised it was another opportunity to get more of Joe’s money. It seemed as though he was totally oblivious to Dawn’s plan, and solely focused on their future together.
Things were a bit weird in today’s episode as Joe was being *checks notes* nice to Billy Fletcher (Jay Kontzle)?
He was chatting to him in the kitchen and believed that they should be civil with each other. Billy agreed to Joe’s idea of clearing the air, and even accepted his offer when he got invited for dinner.
The entire thing was pretty bizarre for Dawn to witness, but it also made her determined to finish the plan as opposed to running away.

That evening, Dawn told Joe that she’d need more money to expand her business plan, and he didn’t have a problem with telling her that he’d send her some. Joe had spent the entire day making comments about Dawn being his future wife, and how excited he is that he’s going to become a father.
All of his remarks were very unlike Joe Tate – and Dawn didn’t pick up on this at all.
As she headed upstairs to help Clemmie with some homework, Joe spoke to Graham Foster (Andrew Scarborough) and it became apparent that both of them have known about Dawn and Moira’s plan for ages.
Graham told Joe that it’s important they put a stop to Dawn’s scheme ‘for good’ – but it seems they might have two different ideas as to what this actually means.
Before the week ends, Graham will find Dawn unconscious at the bottom of the stairs. As he goes to call for help, Joe appears.
He asks Joe what he’s done – but has he got his own revenge by putting his pregnant partner’s life in danger?
