Emmerdale favourite Ned Porteous shows off new look and fans are obsessed
Emmerdale fans are very much here for Ned Porteous’ new look.
The actor returned to his role as Joe Tate last Christmas. As he got settled back into life at Home Farm, it became apparent that Joe wasn’t very well.
We discovered that he had inherited AAT deficiency and was living with chronic kidney disease.
The condition gets diagnosed when someone lives with lower effective concentrations of AAT in their blood. AAT itself is an inhibitor that is transported to the lungs and produced in the liver.
It means someone with the diagnosis is at risk of developing conditions such as COPD or liver problems, or issues with their kidneys.
Because Joe is well, Joe, he took a more unethical approach to organising a kidney transplant.

He had hired a dodgy surgeon called Doctor Crowley (James Hillier), and had to find a relative that had the same blood match as him.
Due to the fact his family members in the village weren’t particularly keen on him, Joe had to find his answers without his relatives finding out.
In February, he drugged brother Noah Dingle (Jack Downham) and then took him to a private clinic. Crowley confirmed that he wasn’t a match, so Joe seemingly abandoned him at the side of a road.
This led to Noah almost getting hit by a limo, which was being driven by Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins). She swerved the vehicle, which then got stuck on a frozen lake. As a result of Joe’s actions with Noah, the limo crash saw Leyla Harding (Roxy Shahidi), Suzy Merton (Martelle Edinborough) and Amy Wyatt (Natalie Ann Jameson) die.

To say Ned has been busy as Joe is a bit of an understatement. Fortunately, he had a spare moment away from filming this week to say a happy 53rd birthday to the ITV soap.
Ned and his co-star Olivia Bromley (Dawn Taylor) both shared the love for the show in the social media video, and said they adore being members of the cast.
While audience members were discussing their favourite moments from the soap over the years, quite a few fans couldn’t help notice a difference in Ned’s appearance.
He’s grown his hair!

‘Finally, Ned has hair!’, the X account Rob Sugden Enthusiast wrote.
Wonder which character they’re a fan of…
‘He’s finally grown his hair out’, Cam said.
Another fan, who probably hasn’t appreciated the trouble Joe has caused since he’s been back, pondered: ‘Joe is getting his hair back! this will make me like the man again…’
Ned has sported a shaved look ever since Joe returned to our screens. When he was last on the show, Joe had a fluffy quiff.
So yes, the development is certainly up there with some classic soap-based twists if you ask us.

In recent episodes of Emmerdale, Joe has been on hand to try and support Dawn, who discovered daughter Clemmie had sent an indecent image to Nicola King’s (Nicola Wheeler) son Carl.
Because both of the children are under the age of consent, they committed an offence, but neither of them realised the severity of what had happened.
Clemmie told Dawn that she sent the picture because she thought that was a good way of getting someone to like her. The youngster was very embarrassed, and refused to go back to school.
Joe then told Dawn that they could send Clemmie to a posh private school and argued that the change in environment would help her.
But when Billy Fletcher (Jay Kontzle) discovered Joe’s idea, he said that Clemmie – a young girl who was severely neglected by her biological mother – would feel like an alien among children who come from wealthy homes.
