Emmerdale star in major career change five months after exit

Emmerdale’s Rachael Gill-Davis has started an exciting new job after leaving the ITV soap.
Rachael portrayed the role of Gail Loman in the show until earlier this year. The character was in a relationship with Ryan Stocks (James Moore), but began to feel bored with her life in the village.
Gail was working at the Woolpack, but believed she was destined to do more. After it became apparent that the dynamic between her and Ryan had changed as well, Gail decided to leave.
She was driven out of the village by Mary Goskirk (Louise Jameson), ready to start her new job in Devon.
Following her departure, Rachael took to Instagram to pay tribute to the show.
Reflecting on the past couple of years, she said: ‘Well…what a mad two years this has been. I want to say a huge thank you to everyone who has shown love and support for the character over these past two years.

‘The fans of Emmerdale are just fab and it’s been wonderful meeting some of you along the way. I did the absolute best with what I was given and it’s been lovely bringing a bit of humour to your screens now and again.’
‘A BIG thank you goes out to everyone who I have got to work with especially on the floor- the runners, props, sparks, camera ops, sound, costume & make up department (ahh), casting department, editors (who I pestered multiple times so I could see my scenes before they aired), digital team, ADs, script supervisors – the list goes on.
‘You all MAKE this show, work so hard and it’s been a privilege to have gotten to work with each and every one of you.’
Rachael added: ‘I want to thank all the writers and directors I have got to work ESPECIALLY Simon Ferguson who did this block. And the cast- I’ve met some really lovely people on this show- you know who you are- my love to you guys.

‘I’ve grown so much as a person and actor but now it’s time to get back to the industry I LOVE and have missed. Excited for what is next.’
In June, we revealed that Rachael was busy rehearsing for a play called Saint Joan, by George Bernard Shaw. Now, the star is adding another string to her bow, and has started teaching students at MetFilm School Leeds.
Rachael teaches acting, but she has spoken about how she’s also incredibly passionate about helping the aspiring actors to believe in themselves.
‘Some drama schools can knock actors down. MetFilm encourages them. It lifts people up and helps them discover their own voices. That’s why I love it’, she said.

‘You walk in and it feels alive. Students are carrying booms and cameras down the corridors. You can tell things are being created in every room. It is electric, challenging, open, creative and exciting’.
Rachael added: ‘When students see that you’ve just come from a production, whether it’s a television role or a stage performance like Joan of Arc, they know the lessons are connected to the realities of professional life.’
‘Come with an open mind, be ready to work hard and believe in yourself. The rest we will discover together.’
