Gladiators halted after paramedics race to injured star leaving audience concerned
Filming on last night’s episode of Gladiators ground to a halt when Bionic was injured during a game of Hang Tough.
30-year-old Bionic, real name Matty Campbell, had been competing against contender Finn on the sky-high rings when the injury occurred.
The Gladiator looked visibly pained as he came out of a failed tussle with Finn, where he dangled in the air by one arm.
As he collapsed to the crash mat below, a team of paramedics came rushing to the Gladiator’s side, while the audience looked on, worried.
Finn also showed concern, by checking on his fallen rival.
After being checked over, Bionic was escorted away, raising a fist to the camera – albeit with a solemn expression on his face.

As filming resumed, Finn joined host Bradley Walsh for a post-match interview.
Congratulating Finn on his ten-point win, Bradley asked how he was feeling about his victory.
‘It’s nice to get the ten points,’ Finn answered, ‘but what isn’t nice is seeing an athlete go out like that.
‘At the end of the day, he’s just got to recover. He’s a great guy.’
The show’s voiceover didn’t seem too worried though, with Guy Mowbray joking: ‘So a system error for Bionic.
‘Let’s hope it quickly gets fixed.’

As the injury occurred, viewers took to social media to share their worries, with DebbieBlackma14 writing: ‘I hope Bionic is okay.’
It was a sentiment shared by other worried fans, including Willzzz123 who commented: ‘oh no, Bionic has been injured,’ and KayleighAnslow, who shared: ‘I hope Bionic’s OK.’
‘Shame to see Bionic injured,’ said UmbertoSlinn, while RyanSoapKing25 took the time to acknowledge Finn’s win, saying: ‘Bionic has hurt himself – well done Finn claiming the maximum 10 points.’
‘Bloody hell Finn that was amazing and speaking of bloody is Bionic OK? What happened,’ remarked a shell-shocked JodiePortugal.

Bionic’s latest injury comes less than a year after it was revealed that four stars of the show had suffered serious injuries while filming the show.
This included Bionic, who had dislocated his shoulder.
Additionally, Diamond – whose real name is Livi Sheldon – ruptured both her ACL and MCL in her knee.
Athena – Karenjeet Kaur Bains – also suffered a knee injury, meaning that she too was taken out of the games to recover.
Meanwhile, Legend – Matt Morsia – revealed how he went through the ‘worst three weeks’ of his life after he tore his bicep tendon off the bone when he tackled a contender in July 2025.

The fitness influencer told his 2.35million subscribers on YouTube: ‘I’ve done that game almost 20 times and never had a problem before.’
The grisly injury caused Matt do develop ‘intense nausea’ which meant that he was ‘vomiting like 24 hours a day.’
He then clarified: ‘I’m talking Team America-style projectile vomiting.’
Matt was ‘devastated’ to not be able to participate in any further games, but understood that it was one of the risks of the job.
‘But at the same time, that’s the reality of Gladiators, right? That’s what makes it the best show on TV. With that, you’re going to get injuries.’
After being discharged back in August 2024, Matt went on to say that his bicep has healed ‘very well,’ and that he was well on the road to recovery.
Despite their injuries, all four Gladiators feature in in series three.
Gladiators returns to BBC One and BBC iPlayer on Saturday at 7:15pm.
