Perez Hilton ‘doesn’t know what year it is’ after mental health hospitalisation
Perez Hilton is reportedly disoriented and ‘believes it’s 2016’ after his horrific livestream left him hospitalised.
On August 5, the 48-year-old blogger self-harmed in a TikTok livestream and was found ‘covered in blood’ by his sister, Barbara Lavandeira.
His family have shared that Perez, real name Mario Armando Lavandeira Jr, had a long road to recovery but was ‘stable’.
A source has now shared that he has ‘lost a decade’ and has been asking to see Katy Perry, despite the fact that the pair haven’t spoken in years.
He thought they were ‘best friends’ because he ‘made her into a star’ and that she ‘would be nowhere without him,’ the source claimed.
Perez and Katy, 41, were once close, as he was a big supporter of her early career but that friendship had dwindled in the last decade.
They told The Daily Mail ’he is not all there’ and that he had been begging for friends to bring the Roar singer to see him.
Close friends have said Perez’s memory of his livestream is a little shaky and he is ‘still not well at all’.
His mum, Teresita Lavandeira, has filed for temporary custody of his three minor children, who were in the house at the time of the incident.
When his sister Barbara arrived at the scene, she told the kids to go to the car and asked a neighbour to take them to safety.
She found him in his bathroom, telling Page Six that his eyes ‘didn’t look the same’ and his smile made her feel like she was ‘staring at someone else’.
Barbara added that August 4 ‘will forever be one of the darkest days my family and I have ever experienced’.
Perez was hospitalised under Florida’s Baker Act, which allows for temporary and involuntary detention of individuals experiencing a mental crisis.
He’s said to be ‘rambling’ but has moments of clarity, although he has no access to his mobile phone or the internet.
Reportedly, he’s been asking about public perception and is struggling to believe his family’s reassurances.
Sources previously told the Daily Mail that his celebrity friends have not reached out, with no flowers or cards from anyone thought to be in his inner circle.
The family are said to be hoping work remains distant as he focuses on his health, both mentally and physically.
