‘Burnt’ Coronation Street star Katie McGlynn ‘taking extreme lengths to hide EastEnders actor lover’
Former Coronation Street and EastEnders stars Max Bowden and Katie McGlynn might have left their respective shows, but their whirlwind, on-again, off-again romance has been something straight out of a soap opera.
After their last on, though, they’ve been keeping an incredibly low profile, which is apparently very much by design.
It all started when the two starred together in stage play, Murder At Midnight which toured the UK, during which they took their professional relationship to a personal level.
Unfortunately, reports surfaced a mere two months later that they’d split upon the conclusion of the tour.
Then, as all good soap romances should, they threw another twist at us, reuniting once again.
Reportedly, though, Katie is keen to keep her private life private after the very public nature of her previous break up with Ricky Rayment of The Only Way is Essex fame.
‘Katie and Max have been trying to keep things super low-key since getting back together,’ reports The Sun.
‘She even told her friends to cut him out of the pics of her birthday trip to the Lakes last weekend and told everyone NOT to post any he was in.
‘Katie was really burnt by how publicly her last relationship with TOWIE star Ricky Rayment played out and when it ended she was humiliated it was all over.’
‘This time she’s doing things differently – no hard launch, making her posts online all about her career and she won’t talk about Max publicly.
‘It’s hard not to want to tell the world when you’re in love but she doesn’t want to risk another relationship hitting the rocks so publicly.’
News of Max and Katie’s fledgling relationship began to leak out after the couple were spotted sharing a kiss after an evening drink at a Wetherspoons after a night on stage.
An on-looker remarked at the time: ‘The couple seemed very intimate and comfortable in each other’s company. They only had eyes for each other.’
‘Max and Katie have been around each other for years’, a source told The Sun.
‘They were in the soap world for so long where everyone knows each other.
‘They’ve got loads in common and both have found themselves single at the same time as doing the tour. They get on well and have been spending time together – it’s clear they’ve got chemistry.’
‘Who knows what the future holds?’ finished the source, speaking to The Sun.
Unfortunately, the future didn’t hold all that much, as they reportedly split within the following two months when their theatre tour concluded.
Another revealed to The Sun: ‘Max and Katie have had a bit of a whirlwind romance.
‘Working together has meant they didn’t have much time for anything else and one thing led to another but Katie has come to her senses and decided to end things.
‘Max is said to be pretty cut up about it and it’s made things pretty awkward.’
Four months after that, though, things were back on again.
‘Katie and Max had a whirlwind romance last year but sadly things didn’t work out. They remained friends and over the last couple of weeks decided to give things another go,’ a source told The Sun.
‘There was a lot of attention on their relationship so they were hoping to keep things private this time around.’
‘There were quite a few people around Katie who were telling her that Max wasn’t good for her.
‘It’s going to be interesting to see how long their romance will last this time around.’
Metro has reached out to representatives for both Max and Katie for comment.
